Prez Canidates
2020 presidential election has been one of the most talked about races in recent memory, with a lot of the focus on president trump and joe biden.
But as abc 36's cody adams tells us, there are 3 other candidates on kentucky's ballott and a whole lot more across the country.
The presidential race typically comes down to 2 candidates.
In fact the last candidate not from a major party to become president was a guy by the name of abraham lincoln... of course, his win created the now republican party.
Nationally there are 1,128 people registered with the federal elections commission running for president.
Now only 36 of those are appearing on at least one ballott accross the u.s. here in kentucky there are 5 candidates on your ballott.
President trump.... joe biden... jo jorgensen... brock pierce... and yes, kanye.
I spoke with 2 of those candidates, and no it's not who you may be thinking.
Dr. jo jorgensen is running as a liberterian.
She's the only third party candidate to be on the ballot in all 50 states.
Jo jorgensen: we're the only party to appear on the ballots in all 50 states.
Two years in a row.
And then they made it harder.
Her hope is to win the white house, but she also understand that's a tall task.
Jo jorgensen: peopel are starting to question saying you know what maybe there's a better way.
I think people are starting to get fed up with governement.
Brock pierce is running as an independent.
His candidacy is a bit more of a long play..
Brock pierce: im 39 i'll be 40 in a few weeks.
And so i am laying the foundation for the future, i'll be running in 2024.
Pierce may look familiar, he is a former child hollywood star appearing in such films as mighty ducks and ironically first kid where he plays a child president along sin bad.
Brock pierce; i played the son of the president, sinbad was my seceret service agent.
Bill clinton and sonny bono had cameos.
Now both of these candidates... and kanye... are incredibly unlikely to win.
But they both have the same goal of breaking up the 2 party system.... eventually.
Jo jorgensen: vote for what you want.
Brock pierce: we should be voting our conscious.
The only way to get out of this perpetual circle is to do that.
