Trick or Trash!
Trick or Trash!

Fort Wayne's Sammie Vance partnered up with the Helping Ninja to properly recycle candy wrappers from Halloween!

The candy before its eaten.

This halloween will look different for everyone but one thing that seems to stay the same is the waste from candy wrappers.

Fox 55's brianna dahlquist spoke to a fort wayne girl who's going the distance to keep her community clean!

These ninjas aren't fighting crime.instead, they're fighting to reduce waste that ends up in landfills.

"candy wrappers aren't recyclable so they end up in a landfill."

Ceo of helping ninjas, incorporated linsey berry has called on a local superstar to help her in this fight to keep our planet both clean and green.

"we're recycling candy wrappers so we don't have to feel guilty when we eat candy and they don't have to send it to that landfill, we have a much better option."

Each halloween, americans buy more than 600 million pounds of candy sammie vance, and 9 year old from fort wayne says those candy wrappers are contributing to landfill overflows and she plans to do something about it!"if you don't recycle the right things or you decide to put something that can be recycled into the trashcan, it'll end up in the landfills.

It'll hurt animals and even hurt us.

Rubicon has made it so much fun because now we can recycle our candy wrappers."for vance, she says even young people can make a huge difference"my motto is, "you don't just have to be an adult to make a difference, you can be any age to make a difference."kevin rothgeb of fort wayne thinks what little sammie and the helping ninjas are doing is incredible!

Rothgeb says although they may be young, their actions are inspiring to older generations as well!"it brings us back to knowing that helping people is important!

Seeing a young person realizing how important it is to help people and a community inspires the older generation to do the same thing."

In fort wayne, i'm brianna dahlquist.
