Chico police are cracking down on large halloween gatherings and parties in the middle of this pandemic.
Action news now reporter esteban reynoso spoke with chico p-d about what they've done so far -- and what's ahead this halloween season.
Chico police started patrolling the city yesterday looking for any large gatherings or parties and especially tonight on halloween, they'll be out on full force.
"we're still staffed up for tonight, because it's halloween and it's saturday night.

We do have a couple special teams out as well who will be dealing with any halloween related incidents or events.
Because it was a big unknown.
Right, we had just entered into the orange phase, of the covid restrictions so, that allowed some of our downtown bars to loosen up their restrictions a little bit, and so, because of that, it was a bit of an unknown.
So we did staff up with special teams just in case."
However, halloween being at the end of a week this year, could be a treat for officers.
"their festivities will generally go into the weekend, so being that halloween is actually on a saturday this week, our operational period of dealing with halloween events is actually must smaller.
The operational period will end early tomorrow morning it's a much smaller operational period, mainly because we expect significantly fewer crowds.
Primarily because of covid restrictions, and the fact that the university students for the most part not in town."
And those two factors, covid restrictions and fewer college students resulted in -- "there were some small parties, but nothing significant.
No significant crimes of violence, no significant out of control party events."
Halloween is a popular holiday in chico.
