Wildcats win Sectional Title

Linton is no stranger to playing this late in the season....they've won 14 sectional championships, but never one in 2a.... they were looking to change that tonight... sports 10's dominic miranda took in the miners sectional title game and joins us to recap it... linton has made no secret about it....for them to have success in 2a in the state tournament.... they have to find a way to get through evansville mater dei... the state powerhouse wildcats have ended the miners season each of the last two years..

Linton was trying to keep that from happening a third year in a row tonight as they hosted mater dei... looking for their first sectional title since 2016.... and as rick mentioned...fir st ever in class 2-a not a lot of fans in the house tonight due to covid-19...as you can see.

Late first quarter... mater dei q-b mason wunderlich heaves it up... how about that catch....i got blisters on my fingers ryan taylor hauls it in for the 30 yard pickup.

Couple plays later.

Wunderlich finds preston taylor for the score.

Wildcats on top of linton 7 nothing.

The miners weren't finding much of a rhythm tonight on offense.

Mater dei has it back now second quarter.

Wunderlich has all day and most of tomorrow to throw it back there.

He throws a dart to a wide open eli mcdurmon..

That's 38 yards to paydirt.

Mater dei went into halftime leading the miners 24 nothing.

2nd half now... miners not quitting.

Q-b hunter gennicks... down the sideline!

Dives for the pylon..... that's 6 folks from 37 yards out.

Great effort there.

Late in the 3rd quarter..now.

Gennicks rolls out and lofts it up to cameron goodman..

Good man.

He makes the catch.

That's a 38 yard touchdown... the miners made it respectable tonight... but it was all evansville mater dei in this one... the wildcats win the 2-a sectional 40 championship by a final of 37 to 20 over linton-stockton.

This was their 7th consecutive win as they head to the regional championship.
