Welcome back... it's been a busy weekend of action on the gridiron across all levels of play ... waay 31s max cohan joins us in the studio again to get us up to date... week one of the high school football playoffs were this week so before we head into week two -- lets take a look at one of the best plays from the first round..
This one takes us out to valley head..with the tigers trailing by three in the second half brilliant quarterback timothy bryant tries to throw out of trouble but ends up finding more of it as jordan burt is there to pick him off and take this one on a run for the ages -- finding a seam he tip toes his way down the sideline before cutting back to the middle of the field --no one can catch him on this one as he takes it in for a 53-yard return -- that would put valley head on top 25 to 21 -- they would fall in that one..43 to 25.
Up at the collegiate level -- a top ten matchup between the florida gators and the georgia bulldogs featured a handful of local players..
Georgia linebacker monty rice -- a james clemens alum -- racked up 8 tackles -- tying a season high for the senior on the other side of the field -- fort payne native evan mcpherson was responsible for 14 of the gators 44 points -- kicking three field goals and five extra points.
And huntsvilles own jaydon hill one tackle in the gators 44-28 win..
And today -- philip rivers and the colts fell to the baltimore ravens -- 24 to 10..rivers completed 25 passes for 227 yards but was held without a touchdown for the second time this season... now you may have noticed we didn't mention alabama or auburn -- both teams were on a bye this week -- next week the tide hosts the kentucky wildcats while the tigers host tennessee...the week after that is the iron bowl..that'll do it for sports, will- megan
