We have an update on a story we first brought you as breaking news at 10 p-m.
This morning - a shoals man is in custody after a police standoff that lasted more than 7 hours!
It happened on puller loop in leighton.
That's in colbert county.
This morning - we're still waiting to learn the suspect's name.
The colbert county sheriff's office hasn't released it yet - but did confirm the man is being treated at helen keller hospital for minor injuries.

Right now - there are still officers processing that scene.
Just after midnight - authorities released more information on what led up to the stand-off.
According to authorities - the standoff began yesterday afternoon after a neighbor called about shots being fired.
When leighton police responded to the scene - the man shot at officers from inside the home.
When they called for back-up - they said the man barricaded himself inside the home.
Law enforcement said he continued to fire shots throughout the night as police tried different ways to get him to safely leave the home.
At one point - they shot tear gas into the house.
Leighton police chief said it was important to get the man to come out of the house himself - in order to keep everyone safe.
Chief brandon hood, leighton police chief "we want him to come out willingly better way to do it."

The police chief said they believe the suspect may have been under the influence.
