Saying about a vaccine.

Good evening and thank you for joining us.

I'm rondrell moore.

And i'm patrece dayton.

Hospitals statewide are seeing record numbers when it comes to hospitalizations.

They play hand in hand with the rise in covid-19 case numbers.

At 5 o'clock...we told you hospitals in terre haute are seeing this trend too.

But health leaders say a vaccine is on the way.

News 10's richard solomon joins us now live from union hospital.

He's shares what he's learned about a vaccine.

Patrece rondrell..

Health leaders here at union hospital say once they get the vaccine...the supply will be very limited.

Until then...they're monitoring case numbers and hospitalizations hoping they won't continue to spike.

[take pkg outcue: to the vaccine duration:1:15] pk} hospitals across the state are urging everyone to mask up and stay distant as they wait for a covid 19 vaccine.

Marc keilman...who's the director of quality and infection control...says hospitals across the state are full.

Including right here in vigo county.

"the last several days we've had 50 patients in the hospital positive for the virus each day" keilman says cases are coming from small gatherings and get togethers.

And you have to be very careful as the holidays roll around.

"this is real.

There's a symtomatic carries in there that are within close quarters of other people and the transmission is going to happen.

So it just propergates, and it's like we're working against ourselves sometimes" but he says a vaccine is on the way.

Right now they don't know when it will become available.

He did tell me that once it is...union and regional hospital will be vaccination sights.

Until then he urges you to have patience.

"i do think it's safe.

This became a priority for all researchers it became a priority for all manufacturers, they will shut down drug lines on other drugs to be able to dedicate all resources to the vaccine" keilman says the hospital is keilman says the vaccine" keilman says the hospital is keilman says the vaccine" keilman says the hospital is in the preperation stages for the vaccine.

That includes how the traffic here at the campus will flow.
