The 25th annual huntsville margarita ball had to be postponed until next year due to covid-19 restrictions..
But organizers are still working to collect new toys for the more than 20 non-profits they help in the area.
Waay 31' sydney martin learned more about the efforts to make sure they reach their goal.
Michael spaulding, margarita ball board member "it's very important to us to take care of these kids and try and spread a little cheer.
2020 has been hard on all of us and we all know that.
We recognize that.
We're really working extra hard this year doing it without the ball it's been a challenge.'
Michael spaulding told me the margartia ball board members have been working for months..
To find alternatives ways to collect toys and recieve donations to make sure kid's chrirstmas wishes come true this year..
Like they have in years past.
Toys for tot's coordinator sergeant james thompson told me- the margarita ball helps them fulfil the wishes of the about 13 hundred kids in the area they provide presents to each year... sgt.
James thompson, toys for tot "last year it took at least three van loads worth of trips to get everything from the margarita ball back our warehouse.
They're definately one of our biggest donators and it is going to be tough this year."
Spaulding told me the ball has held a golf tournament and various toy drives around madison county and they're now- the margarita ball is hosting toy drives all around town.
They're asking for people donate unwrapped new toys still in their packaging.
Their next toy drive event is this saturday from 10 am until 4 p-m at the rosies on south parkway where they'll be collecting toys.
