Chico residents have mixed reactions to California's virus travel advisories

Gavin Newsom says he and the governors of Oregon and Washington have issued travel advisories urging people entering their states or returning from travel outside those states to self-quarantine to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

They're hoping to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The advisories urge against non-essential out-of-state travel..

And ask you to self- quarantine for 14 days if you arrive from another state or country.

Thursdayã california became the second us state to top one million coronavirus cases and we're seeing a spike across the country.

Some people traveling for the holidays understand why this is a necessary step in order to slow the spread.

Others just want a sense of normalcy... carli pickard/lives in chico "i understand what they are saying but at the same time when are we going to start choosing quality of life over fear you know what i mean.

It is really hard for people right now mentally.

You need to take care of your mental state and we are just not doing that."

I reached out to shasta county public health's kerri schuette to see if they think this will help slow the spread.
