State Police are now investigating a homicide after a man was shot at the Red Carpet Inn in Rome.

Person is dead following a shooting at the red carpet inn in rome.

State police say they are looking for more than one suspect.

Several law enforcement agencies were called to the hotel around 12-30 this afternoon for shots fired.

We have news channel 2's brent kearney live at the red carpet inn.

Callihan there's still a lot of police vehicles in the parking lot of the hotel.

As forensics teams begin to determine what exactly happened.

Police had the hotel surrounded for over an hour as they waited for the state police sort team to arrive on scene.

This was because police believed the shooter was still on scene.

Police say the victim who they say is a male around 28 years old, was able to make his way from the hotel room where he was shot and down to the hotel office for help.

He was transported to the hospital.

Polie say he died later.

They tell me they're now searching for two suspects that fled the scene in a black nissan rogue.

Police are also saying the victim and the suspects are believed to have known each other.

Forensics teams are now examining every piece of evidence inside of the hotel room to try and determine what happened.

"we have our forensics unit come do the office where he went for help.

And obviously the room that he was staying in.

We have some other information from the scene as well.

His cellphone is still here.

Hopefully we can develop leads.

We will do everything we can to bring the people to justice who committed this crime against him and other information we have we will ask the public for help.

Hopefully we will be able to locate that vehicle and state police are telling us the suspects are on the loose but police are saying their is no threat to the public.

Callihan state police tell me if these suspects are caught they will be charged with murder.

And as soon as we learn more information we will pass that along to you.
