Pontotoc, Itawamba among seven counties added to mask mandate, governor announced Monday

Seven counties have qualified for additional measures to help curb the spread of the coronavirus in Mississippi.

A mask mandate to 7 more counties bringing the list to 22 last week we had a large number of cases, our worst number of cases since probably late july or early august, that has me concerned ... ."

Tate reeves, (r) ms ) and the governor's concern and spike in cases led him to put the following counties in our viewing area under a mask mandate.

Itawamba, montgomery, pontotoc and winston counties reeves said the rise in coronavirus cases are up in the state and it's getting worse the new counties now join lee, benton, marshall and yalobusha counties.

The mask mandates are in effect until mid-december.

Governor tate reeves also has a message for those that aren't under the state's mask mandate just because you are or you are not in these 22 counties does not change what is in the best interest for you and your family.."

Governor reeves and his family remains in self-isolation after his youngest daughter tested positive for the coronavirus last week.
