All Vigo County schools shift to remote leaning

All vigo county school corporation students will be learning remotely... beginning thursday.

It's the latest change due to covid-19.

In our stop story... news 10's porsha williams is live to explain the plan.

I'm here outside of the vigo county school corporation central office.

This afternoon ..

The district announced "all" students will go remote on thursday.

Covid-19 and staffing concerns led to this decision.

The earliest possible return for students is on december 7th.

This gives staff and students who are quarantined time to make a full recovery.

Students will still be able to have free grab and go meals at their schools from 11 to noon.

Wifi enabled buses will be dispatched throughout the county as well.

The director of communications bill riley says... he hopes with these weeks off, the covid-19 numbers in the county will go down.

He says we all have a part to play in limiting the spread.

"public health officials continue to tell us that most of the cases were seeing contact the school are being transmitted outside of school.

Social engagements rather whether large or small.

So we need people to cut that out, so we can get back to school."
