I am here at the salvation army where i spoke with major whitney morton eariler about this year's angel tree.
She tells me this year about 650 children are on the angel tree verses last year there was only about 400 children.

"there is a big increase and additionally a lot of our families are new to the angel tree" major whitney morton just set the angel tree up earlier.
She says there is a large increase in angels from last year.
"around christmas time, families feel a crunch of the economy, for the last 10 years that been kind of right, but this year.

She says many more families need help this year for a variety of reasons.
