Developing tonight --- the covid-19 pandemic coming full circle.
In march --- winter sports were the first to fall to the pandemic.
And as we enter the final months of 20-20 --- and fall sports close out the season.... winter sport athletes in kentucky are wondering if they will be benched -- by covid-19 once again.
Tonight we are learning -- the whistle is being blown -- on henderson county athletes.
The school board making a crucial decision to suspend play.
-- ahead of wednesday's k- h-s-s-a meeting.
44sports spoke earlier with henderson county athletic director mark andrews about the upcoming board of control and khsaa meeting scheduled for wednesday, and this is what he had to say.
I suspect that they are going to look at a schedule and start dates and that type of thing and determine if the season is going to end on time or if they are going to change some of the postseason dates as well.
It does look like they're going to discuss spring sports as well, at least the covid regulations that are going to be put in place because the spring sports usually start conditioning not too long after that, the first of the year so, we need to find out what those guidelines are going to be for them as well.
However tonight, the henderson county school board made the decision to suspend winter athletics.
This is all out of our control, this pandemic has taken turns that we didn't expect it to take so, your plans that you gave us were wonderful, we just cant implement them at this time.
We're going to try to get back to them as best we can as fast as we can.
