One man is dead and a deputy injured following a shooting in Breckinridge county.

State police say the shooting happened last night during a traffic stop near an elementary school.

According to police... james horton shot the breckenridge county deputy who pulled him over then ran off.

They say he then stole a pickup truck and drove to grayson county.... where he was stopped by troopers.

K-s-p says horton fired several shots at troopers... who returned fire.... killing horton..

Police say the deputy was flown to the university of louisville hospital... where he was treated for non- life-threatening injuries.
