Delgado declared winner, AP says

Incumbent Congressman Antonio Delgado has been declared the winner of the 19th Congressional District race, according to the Associated Press.

The incumbent democrat representing a large portion of otsego county has won a second-term in congress.

U.s. representative antonio delgado won a second term, defeating military veteran kyle van de water.

Including absentee ballots, delgado wins with nearly 52- percent of the vote.

156,791 votes in total.

His republican challenger had 46- percent of the votes.

139,221 votes in total.

The 19th congressional district stretches from the catskills and hudson valley.... to rural counties near albany.

The democrats prevailed in a contest that was close on election day, but where those absentee ballots tipped the scales.

Delgado has worked on a number of bi- partisan, locally- based advisory committees focusing on small business, agriculture, health care, and veterans.

He was first elected two years ago.... ousting republican john faso.

Delgado will be sworn in to another term on january 3rd.
