Community Harvest Food Bank helping with Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving next week, many families who've been hit by COVID-19 and other financial challenges are lining up at Community Harvest Food Bank to get food and most importantly turkeys.

And one death.

Right now -- families hit by covid-19 and other financial challenges are heading to food banks for help.some food banks seeing lines of cars for food and most importantly this season...turkeys.fox 55's jentill neal tells us how one food bank is working hard to meet the need.

The community harvest food bank is making sure no family goes without a turkey this year.>06:17:13-06:17:31"today is our turkey rally.

Today we're hoping to receive about 600 donations of turkeys.

It's been a very big season.

Last year we actually purchased 4500 turkeys.

This year we're looking to purchase 5500."wolf says they are in dire need of canned goods.>06:18:12-06:18:29 "a lot of the stores are out of products so any type of canned good, shelf stable product... we can use turkey, gravy, stuffing."

They are also hoping to raise $40,000.

With the donation of 10,000 pounds of canned goods, wolf says it will help them get through thanksgiving and carry them over until christmas.but they need volunteers to make it successful.> 06:20:25-06:20:40"we have seven that are doing us a great job, but again our volunteer numbers are down.

With covid, folks have been relatively hesitant to come in.

If anyone is able to help us, get a hold of us here at the food bank.

You can go to cfhb dot org"on saturdays they need about 50 volunteers to hand out food, but if they have a repeat of last saturday they'll need more.turkey donations will still be accepted after today even though the turkey rally wrapped up.
