Small businesses have been the backbone of this community they sponsor their little league teams they sponsor your softball teams we always give for your benefits fundraisers for gallus and we need you now more than ever."

Just a few stores down at the olde wicker mill, owner laura miziack says business has been steady and hopes that trend continues.

Laura says: "shopping local is so important because the money that you shop with here stays here.

I pay my rent which pays school taxes, i pay my employees, they turn around and spend that make here in the community."

With small business saturday just under a week away, laura hopes shoppers spend it locally.

"we're embracing small business saturday and we're making it small business saturday and sunday.

Any promotions that we are going to be running on saturday , we're going to be filtering into sunday.

Its going to be busier than ever this year so i think small business saturday deserves two days."
