But with the pandemic, health experts say you shouldn't be doing that unless it's safely.

"we really urge people to consider joining in small gatherings which may look different than your normal thanksgiving lunches or dinners."

Melissa brantley with the south central district says consider only eating with your immediate family.

"we know it's not ideal but hopefully next year things can be back to normal."

"if you feel ill at all whether it's flu covid or any other type of illness you should not be around others to have the opportunity to spread whats effecting you."

Michael hokanson with the north central district, says each time there's been a holiday weekend, the cases spike two weeks later.

"we're already seeing a rise in new cases across georgia and the country while cases are increase we need to make sure everybody is being extra careful and following those guidelines."

Brantley says get creative with your dinners this year, just like her family.

"we're doing a food drop off so everyone is doing the same food items but we divying it out to each other."
