A popular attraction in the wabash valley will be going on hiatus because of the pandemic.
At 5 o'clock we told you the exotic feline rescue center in clay county temporarily closed its doors to visitors.
The center shut down due to concerns over rising covid-19 case numbers.
Now you'll hear how you can help.
News 10's bri shackelford fills us in on what you can do from the comfort of your own home.
The exotic feline rescue center is a sanctuary for exotic cats.
The center rescues cats from around the country.
Their main source of income comes from guided tours of the sanctuary.
But...now that the center is closed...they need your help.
[take pkg duration:1:06] a familiar sound... nat soun} you could call it a cry for help... "now i think the old expression is we're going on a wing and a prayer.
And if that's what we have to do, then that's what we have to do."
Joe taft is the director of the exotic feline rescue center.
He says this is one of the hardest years they've had.
The center has been taking care of these cats for more than 30 years.
But with the pandemic... their main source of income is gone..
"so when we disrupt our potential for income, that certainly hurts us."
The center hopes to be open as soon as possible.
But....there's no date for opening yet.
Either way taft says they'll continue caring for the pets... which is mission number one.
"and it's our hope, that all of our efforts go towards seeing that the bad things that have happened to them are all in the past."
While you can't visit the exotic feline rescue center...you can still help them take care of the cats.
