Employee killed in Calhoun City convenience store holdup

A convenience store clerk died after being shot during a Wednesday night robbery of the business in Calhoun City.

It's a crime that's shocking anytime it happens.

But that is especially the case when it happens in a small town.

A convenience store clerk shot and killed while on the job.

Now, three people are in the calhoun county jail charged with capital murder.

I'm outside of calhoun express where law enforcement said someone shot and killed the store clerk.

Calhoun couty sheriff, gregg pollan, said the man who died worked at the convenience store wednesday night.

At around 9 pm, 3 men robbed the store and shot the clerk.

Pollan said the 3 men police arrested are 20-year-old jakevion greer from grenada, 18-year-old yasin mcgee from lexington.

And 17 17-year-oldorris morgan from lexington.

Pollan said something like this could have been avoided.

Sot: "we keep using the word tragedy.

I was speaking to some people here in the community this morning.

Tragedy."

The sheriff said an eupora police officer stopped the men at around 9:45pm wednesday night.

They were headed 25 miles south in eupora.

Once the officer realized the men and their car matched law enforcement descriptions, he arrested them.

The men face capital murder charges and are currently at the calhoun county jail.

The kids involved.

I mean this is going to change them forever."

Chief pollan did not release the victim's name initially.
