Tri-state man new tonight--- a tri-state man is finding the time to give back where- ever and when- ever he can--- he spends countless hours---making his community a better place for all-- 44news reporter megan diventi shares his inspiring story.

"you don't really think about it until they come up to you and say thank you for doing what you do."

Scott zoll of newburgh--- wears many hats-- a full time post office employee---he also takes time to work at the volunteer fire department-- a decision he made after the tornado in 2005.... "i always felt like that if nobody volunteered, then nobody would be there to help."

But his contribution to the community doesn't stop there--- the marine--- spending time each year volunteering with honor flight--originally as a guardian-- and now as a bus captain---- "when you meet these veterans especially the world war 2 veterans, i mean every veteran is special, but the greatest generation, theres a reason they call them that, and i went as a guardian, and just meeting them, talking to them, the stories, are just unbelievable."

His time spent-- also helping the younger generation---the newburgh dad--- helping with his daughters girl scout troops--- but throughout the years--- although he's spent countless hours helping others---it's the lessons he's gained in return--- "commitment and sticking with that commitment, helping a family out when their loved one is at the worst time.

The veterans, telling them thank you for your service, and they almost cry because they think they're forgotten, but they are not."

Not all heroes wear capes-- sometimes its our neighbors--- like scott zoll-- who have found ways to make the world---just a little brighter-- and better in the process.

"if you think you're interested in it, just go out and do it and give back."
