Scholar Athlete of the Week: Clayton Lewis, Owensboro Catholic

My mother once told me..

Don't aspire to be the best*on the team..

Aspire to be the best for the team.

That type of mentality is needed across the country..

And can be found down in the bluegrass state at owensboro catholic high school.

Clayton lewis plans on heading into the military upon graduation..

But before he takes off to protect our country..

The senior ace is being named our latest scholar athlete of the week.

Hey my name is clayton lewis, i'm a senior at owensboro catholic i would like to thank my parents, my hey my name is clayton lewis, i'm a senior at owensboro catholic i would like to thank my parents, my teachers, and my coaches, my friends, and my priests for getting me to the point where i'm at.

Go aces.

A three sport athlete who made the transition from quarterback to lineman..

Clayton lewis has always had a team first mentality at owensboro catholic.

He's a great character kid who is willing to take on that change just for the better of the team and then he obviously has the brains and is the leader of our offensive line.

There's a lot of times where he's telling guys what to do and he's just a joy to coach.

I'll do anything to help my team and get some playing time.

So i switched, i love it and i'm glad i did it.

The senior doesn't just go to work on the gridiron..

Lewis hits the books just as hard.

A perfect 4.0 gpa has him ranked second in his class.

I got my work ethic from my dad.

He's always taught me you've got to work hard in everything you do and he's shown that through with what he does for work and he's always working hard and he says you've got to do the best you can.

He always does assignments and actually goes above and beyond what he's asked to do.

Always prepared when other kids are like "oh, we have a test today?"

Clay knows, and he's on it and then he does well on those tests i couldn't be more proud of a kid like him.

And when he's not setting the tone for the offensive or defensive lines..

Lewis is active in his aces community.

The class president involved in 9 different clubs and activities.

Clayton-both my parents professions help serve others in the community so i just come from a family of being very humble and serving other and giving back.

Morris- clayton is going to be a successful kid in life.

He's successful in everything he's done in high school.

He's been a kid that i can go to as a leader and i know that he's going to do things the right way.

Hardesty- nothing that he's done or has accomplished shocks me and i know that he'll accomplish even greater things beyond the high school level.
