Holiday weekend--- vanderburgh county seeing the*highest day with two hundred-sixty- seven new cases....testing-- -still crucial here at home... 44news reporter megan diventi is live in evansville tonight---with more on the latest efforts to combat the virus.
Brian--jessica--- the reopen evansville task force announcing earlier today--- covid-19 testing here at the c-k newsome center---- will continue through the end of the year.... testing at the site administered by optum-serve will be extended through december----and is available for those who live and work in the evansville region...... across the country--and here at home-- the number of people getting tested---is expected to increase---as we just wrapped up thanksgiving... coronavirus task force officials say--- several people have been utilizing the testing--- especially during this time of year.
"well it comes in flows in terms of the numbers of people that come in we're testing.
For a while there they were having lower numbers, but now we've seen consistently 30, 40, 50 people coming in a day for testing, we actually saw 60 today, so at least scheduled for an appointment so we'll see that increase, decrease, just as the weeks go on."
The site is free and open to all, regardless of symptoms, insurance or risk level.
The site was made possible through a collaboration between mayor lloyd winnecke, the vanderburgh county health department and the indiana state department of health.
