It's the first day of December and we are tracking developments in the Covid-19 outbreak inside two Butte County hospitals, vaccine updates, and local city council meetings.

This morning in our region..

A spike in coronavirus cases inside two butte county health care facilities.

Monday - orchard hospital reps announced - via press release - 16 staff members and 32 patients have tested positive for covid-19.

At oroville hospital - 40 health care worker cases of infection.

Action news now has reached out to both hospitals for direct statements.

As of this morning- no word from either.

We will continue reaching out to learn more.

### on monday- the governor also announced temporary tax relief and $500 million in aid for struggling small businesses.

The governor said the state measures are designed to provide aid until the legislature can meet in the new year and work with him to provide more relief.

### this morning california state leaders are considering the possibility of another stay at home order.

Monday - governor newsom announced the potential for all purple tier counties to face that order.

The governor says top health officials are watching the rising numbers and over the next fews days... will make decisions regarding a second stay at home order.

## happening today... members of the oroville city council*ar* set to meet.

It looks to be a fairly short agenda, with council taking up signage issues and property rights of way.

The meeting starts at 4;30pm - and is virtual.

New council members are set to be sworn in..

But the mayor says the city has not yet received official certification of election results from the county elections office.

The new chico city council is expected to select a new mayor and vice mayor at next week's meeting.

## german pharmceutical company pfizer is moving forward with its request for approval for a coronavirus vaccine, from european regulators.

Company reps saysthe request completes what is called, the rolling review proces* initiated with the agency in october.

If the vaccine is approved... it could administered in parts of europe before the end of the year..

## president-elect biden names his economic team today with two historic firsts: janet yellen as the first female treasury secretary and neera tanden - the first woman of color nominated as white house budget director.
