Macon unemployment rate declines for October

New tonight: the georgia department of labor released a report stating, macon's unemployment rate dropped in october.

According to department of labor commissioner, mark butler, the unemployment rate dropped 1 point 6 percentage points, to 5 percent overall.

Butler says macon is still not where it was at this time last year, when it was at 3.4 percent.

He says the pandemic is still impacting industries like-hospitality and entertainment, so it will be tough getting the unemployment rate back to what they were pre-covid.
