North Alabama warming shelters open due to drop in temperatures

The drop in temperatures caused warming shelters to open for the first time since the pandemic.

The facility that was used in the past was not large enough to social distance.

So huntsville allowed them to use the max luther community center.

The north alabama coalition for the homeless says they are also taking other precaution because of the pandemic.

There is a large enough facility inside for us to allow the cots to be 6ft apart as well as we're going to try to require client to wear masks for 24 hours.

We will take clients temperatures before they come in.

The shelter is expected to be open until next wednesday.
