Our top story tonight at 11: macon-bibb county commissioners tried to overturn two of mayor robert reichert's most recent decisions, but were unsuccessful.
In a meeting tuesday, commissioners discussed the mayor's decision to not rename the macon city auditorium after former macon mayor c jack ellis.
The commission was unable to overturn the decision in a 5-6 vote.
The veto of an amendment to the discrimination ordinance was also challenged, and lost in a 5-6 vote again.
The amendment was meant to make it illegal on a county level to discriminate against a person.
Mayor robert reichert says he vetoed the amendment, because he feels it would just create more problems. while i feel like the anti-discrimination ordinance should be persued by the next administration, i feel like this particular ordinance was badly flawed and had some problems with being misunderstood and had c1 3 b13 a lot of ambiguity that would have created more issues than it resolved so i vetoed it.
