Classes cancelled this week due to cyber attack
This morning - huntsville city schools are waking up to another day of canceled classes.
The cyberattack on the school district will keep students out of class for the rest of the week!
Waay31s sierra phillips is live at the district office with where the investigation stands as it moves into its third day!
Right now - the district's spokesman said it's still unclear whether or not student information was compromised during the cyberattack.
He said they're also working to find out how it happened.
Chief communications officer craig williams also said he is aware that some parents got calls about internet connection for students.
He said those calls don't seem to be apart of the attack.
Williams said while he can't say much about the investigation - he can confirm it's active.
We want to do everything we can to make sure we're good stewards of their data, making sure we're good stewards of their information.
We of course have a number of precautionary measures in place on the front end to work to catch these types of issues before they even ever occur, but unfortunately as you all know these cyber criminals, they're sophisticated, they know what they are doing while students are out for the rest of the week - some teachers will be returning this week.
The district is still asking everyone to stay off of district-issued devices and online learning platforms!
