Area animal shelters are taking a hit because of the pandemic.
News 10 reached out to the Terre Haute Humane Society and the Clay County Humane Society to learn what they're dealing with.
Within the district.... across the valley..
Local animal shelters are desperately seeking help from the community.
News 10's jordan kudisch spoke with the "clay county humane society" she's in our newsroom..
To share their struggles... during the pandemic.
Alia..
It's a tough battle for non-profits..
And they're defentiely feeling the effects i n clay county.
I spoke with the facility manager..
Who says they're seeing a steady amount of adoptions..
But a major decrease in donations.
At this rate..
They are hardly able to feed the animals inside of the shelter..
Let alone support families in need of food for their current pets.
The manager says it's frustrating to turn people away who need the food..
And ask that the community step up in a time of need.
"it's a huge help even if it's just five dollars worth of food, five dollars may not be much to you but it's really important to others and i think in all communities right now especially with covid i think we need to all pull together and helpout where we can."
The manager says any donation helps.
