Aberdeen police chief warns public to follow mask mandate, limit social gatherings

The Aberdeen police chief took to social media Wednesday warning the community his officers are enforcing Gov.

Tate Reeves’ executive order.

Monroe county was one of many counties added to the list of the executive order put in place tuesday by governor tate reeves.

In response, the aberdeen police department announced they are cracking down on anyone not taking the precautions to keep cases from rising in the area.

"at this particular time people are dying so it's time to stop being selfish and thinking about yourself."

Aberdeen police chief henry randle took to facebook warning the community to follow guidelines or else.

"basically what we're trying to do is sit down for a while, that's all we're saying" chief randle said with christmas inching closer he is aware people in the community are planning events for business and personal reasons.

However, he is warning the community to stop now.

"if we wait to the last minute we know for a fact that you are going to lose money.

You got all the catering and all the planning and all the stuff you have to pay for in advance.

We're telling you don't do that as of now."

According to cheif randle all indoor events must only allow ten or less people inside at one time.

He encourage outdoor events but warns a 50 person limit.

He said his message on facebook is your warning, if police respond to an event and guidelines are not being followed..

"we going to ask you not to do it then we're going to write the fine, then we're going to write another fine then we're going to jail you."

In addition to safe gathering capacity, randle asks businesses to enforce masks..

He added a curfew is expected to be in place from 11pm to 4am.
