Huntsville City Schools students to return next week after cyber attack
In the last two hours we learned huntsville city school students will be headed back to class on monday.
That's after a cyber security attack - stopped class instruction earlier this week.
Waay 31's sophia borrelli joins us live outside central office.
She explains what parents need to know.
Sophia?
Starting on monday - traditional students will be headed back to the classroom - but after that - some schedules vary for some students.
At this time - traditional elementary school students will be returning to the classroom on monday.
That also goes for middle and junior high school students.
As far as traditional high schools students - all students will head to the classroom on monday then the staggered schedule resume on tuesday.
All students will be working on assignments that will not require using their district issued devices.
Virtual students will be able to pick up assignment packets on monday as well.
We spoke with a parent who said she is excited - her kids are headed back to the classroom.
Elizabeth fleming, parent: "to me this is a silver lining knowing that they will be able to go back on monday."
Craig williams, huntsville city schools chief communications officer: "teaching and learning can take place with or without technology.
Our teachers, they are professional educators so when asked the question, will teaching a learning be able to take place without the use of technology, absolutely."
As for if any information as been compromised - district officials say they are hoping to share some good news to share very soon - but are not able to comment any further on that at this time.

The investigation into the cyber security attack which the district is treating as a ransom-ware attack is still ongoing.
The district is asking students faculty and parents to keep school issued devices logged off... and do not log onto any huntsville city school platform.
