WAAY-31's Sophia Borrelli Discusses the impact that a Cyberware attack has had on the Huntsville City School Systems and how it affects virtual learning.

New information - huntsville school teachers spent friday getting ready for students to resume their education without the aid of technology.

Computers are not being used as the district investigates a cyber security attack.

Waay 31's sophia borrelli spoke with a cyber security expert... she learned how long an investigation like this may take.

"the cyber security expert i spoke with said students and parents will need to have patience as they begin classes on monday - because this investigation is going to take some time."

Vo: the expert i spoke with - says his company is not involved in the investigation into the possible ransomware attack on huntsville city schools system the attack forced huntsville schools to shut down all computers and send students home monday.

They'll come back this coming monday even as the investigation into the attack is ongoing.

Sot: david jarmon, vice president of cybersecurity for gray analytics: "it's really hard to put a time limit on it like we said, it just depends on how vast the attack was and what i mean by that is how many systems were affected by the attack and what were the causes for how the virus got into the system so, those things are very telling and sometimes depending on the answer take longer than others."

Sophia looklive: as for what or if any information has been compromised - the district says it does not have an update on that - but will let parents know as soon as possible.
