Plans for More Nurses to be Put on Standby

Happening now - plans are being put into place to have more nurses on standby to help one hospital in the shoals.

The action comes as hospitals in the area see the highest number of covid-19 patients during this pandemic... 75 people are currently hospitalized!

Here at florence's new hospital, they now have 35 coronavirus patients they're caring for and just down the road from here in sheffield helen keller hospital is looking after 34 patients..

Another six patients are in the hospital in red bay..

Helen keller hospital president kyle buchanan said over the last several weeks they've had a high number of coroanvirus patients.

This caused the hospital to expand it's covid unit and while they aren't at the breaking point yet the hospital is seeing a dangerous trend.

Last week was the first time we had more in patient covid positive under the age of 50 than over the age of 70 and i don't know if that's a blip or true trend but it's something worth watching for sure helen keller hospital is also working to get extra ventilators in addition to making plans to have more nurses on standby.
