Madrigals Choir to perform for Christmas

Tupelo High School's Madrigals Choir will perform in Fair Park on December 11th and 12th in place of it's annual "Singfeast".

Many holiday events this year, including the tupelo christmas parade, but he didn't stop a popular choir from spreading christmas cheer.

Wtva's bronson woodruff visited the tupelo high school madrigals choir today to find out about their upcoming performance in fair park.

"we are trying to keep the tradition alive in spite of covid."

Suzy williams is director of choirs at tupelo high school.

She explained the choir will perform in fair park this weekend.

This event is taking the place of its traditional "singfeast" as a precaution during this pandemic.

Williams said the choir will perform several different kinds of music.

She added people can watch from their cars if they want.

"it's going to be loud enough that you should be able to hear it around the area."

Daniel robbins is a member of the choir.

This is his last year to get to do singfeast, and he was afraid it wouldn't happen this year.

"since covid happened, and all that other stuff, i was really, really worried that it wouldn't happen, but getting to do it, it's really wonderful."

Williams said santa will also make an appearance for pictures, both traditional pictures on his lap, and socially-distanced ones.

She sad this santa had the coroanvirus, but has recovered from it very well, if that makes parents more comfortable.

"we're hoping that this gives people an opportunity to have some place to go, but be safe."

"being able to like go to a park and hear music, and just feel like the christmas spirit like in everyone, it's just wonderful."

The free event is happening in fair park on friday, december eleventh at seven p-m, and again on saturday the twelfth at two p-m and at seven p-m.
