The kentucky high school athletic assocation met today to decide on the schedule for winter sports... and like the decisions it has made over the past few months..

It was both good... and bad news for student athletes.

The k-h-s-a-a has been met with tough decision after tough decision for the last several months.

On thursday, they solidified dates for winter sports.

Back in november they voted for practice for winter sports including basketball, swimming, wrestling cheer and dance to begin monday december 4th...they voted to uphold that.

They also voted to uphold competition to begin january 4th.

For basketball...tentat ive dates for district tournaments to be march 15th.

Region tournaments to be march 22.

Once again...that could change.

What is less likely to change is the sweet 16 tournaments will take place between march 29th and april 8th.

Those are set a tad more solid because they are connected to the availability of rupp arena.

So...how do high school coaches feel about this?

I caught up with franklin county girl's coach joey thacker.

His lady flyers were one of the few teams who played in the first round of the state tournament last season.

While it may take his team a bit to get back in the groove...he's okay with the postseason getting pushed back.

While winter sports are waiting to get started..high school football is c1 3 wrapping up.

We have multiple area teams in semi- state games friday night.
