The Locker Room: High School Basketball 12/11

Justin and Petar bring you action from 10 area high school basketball games in this week's edition of the Locker Room.

Evening to you, and welcome once again inside the locker room..joined as always by my partner petar hood, my name is justin prince..pete, the pandemic has had an impact on pretty much everything and everyone on the planet, and high school basketball season here in northeast indiana is no exception...yeah, tonight marks the beginning of summit athletic conference friday night doubleheaders, something that the summit city looks forward to every winter..

Unfortunately covid-19 canceled three of the ten scheduled s-a-c games tonight, so we've only got two doubleheaders on the slate..

But it is what it is, and you know what, some hoops are better than no hoops...???we begin on the boys side, and we begin at kilmer court... the wayne generals opening conference play with a trip to snider...???close game when we pick this one up third quarter... darrion starks pushing the pace for the generals... wayne down just half a dozen at that point..

???but the panthers put their foot on the gas after that... can't leave grant brown open... he makes wayne pay... nine points on the night for brown..???moments later, aidan lambert wants three... give him three... lambert finishes with 10 points to go along with five boards... ???but the star of the night for snider was karson jenkins... you'll see him showing off the pull-up game... jenkins drops a game- high 31... that bucket put the panthers up 13 in the fourth..3 ???they hold on to win, 80-65... panthers move to 3-1 overall with the win..

Next stop takes us to the southwest side... 4a's third ranked homestead hosting bishop dwenger tonight...pick it up fourth quarter... this one all sparty... but they're tacking on to it... luke goode pulls up from deep and buries it...next trip down the floor... cans the smooth fader from the post... the illinois commit finishes with 14...but his buddy in the backcourt not to be outdone... fletcher loyer... hits the pull up three from straightaway on the break...next time down the floor... loyer open once again... this time..

He cans the wing triple... game high 23 from the future purdue boilermaker...as homestead cruises to the 81-55 victory... sparty is now 4-0 on the season... they'll play new haven tomorrow... ???we head inside the cage at concordia... that's where we find the carroll chargers tonight... somehow this team is unranked, but they keep playing like this, they will be soon..???jalen jackson... prince a wise man once said... if you ain't got no sauce, you're lost... this young man's got plenty of sauce..

You saw him with the smooth hesi...???here the junior just bullies his way to the rim for two more... puts the chargers up 18 late in the second quarter...???just before halftime, concordia draws a little closer... brandon davis drains a three... so it's a 15 point game at the break..

???but carroll able to put this one away in the second half... jackson just doing his thing out there... a casual 26 points, 9 rebounds for jalen..

???carroll moves to 4-0 with a 66-45 win..

???this turned out to be the game of the night in the s-a-c... a rivalry renewed at by hey arena as north side hosts south side..???archers led by five at the half, but third quarter, here come the legends... brashawn bassett steps into the 18-footer... that cuts the deficit down to three...???other end, archers have an answer... they dump it down low to jaylen lattimore and let the big fella go to work... 13 points on the night for the two sport star... south side goes back up five..

???but north would go on a run after that... jordan green and rodney woods working the give and go... bucket for woods..

He had 14 on the night..

????but once again it was the freshman who stole the show for the legends... brauntae johnson with two of his team- high 18 points..

Plus the foul..???north side wins a close one, 64-58 your final... ???staying at by hey arena... lamyia woodson and the south side lady archers taking on their rival north side tonight..???coming into the night, archers had won 21 in a row against the legends, and they were quick to establish their dominance once again in this one... first quarter, you saw jas combs cutting and scoring... team- high 15 for combs on the night..???moments later, it's olivia smith attacking the rack with a nifty ball fake... quiet night for smith... she had just seven... but no problem for south..???here you see smith with the effort on defense... leads to a layup on the other end for freshman annika davis... she chipped in with 11 points...???and then it's smith assisting to nevaeh pearson, who splashes the three ball...???south side jumps out to a 10-0 lead... archers roll past their rival, 70-20... back to homestead we go... ayanna patterson and the 15th ranked spartans taking on bishop dwenger...sparty jumped out to the early lead in this one... ayanna patterson... a little bully ball down low... homestead up 16...back come the saints... rachel mccarthy down the lane... give her the hoop and harm... next trip down the floor.... kaylianna hammel hits the triple... that cuts the lead down to just ten...but that's as close as they'd get the rest of the night... third quarter... allison stephens... wing three... she had 22 points tonight...but ayanna not to be outdone... she misses the first... but not the second... she had a game high 27...she and stephens outscore dwenger by themselves... as homestead rolls to the 78-42 dub.... ???final stop in the s-a-c comes at mark schoeff gymnasium... bishop luers traveling to take on the northrop bruins..???this one was back and forth all first half... pick it up later first quarter... jayla fikes to delaney bailey... back to fites... that bucket puts the knights up four after one..

???bruins come battling back in the second... coach clopton was screaming "look at ti" on this play... and that's why... tiauna white..

Two of her team-high 18 points... ties the game at 12...???other end, luers looking to answer... and they do so down low... this time it's bailey... somehow gets this one to go... knights jump back in front..???later in the second quarter, white with the steal... leads to a layup for amanda thatcher... 13 points on the night for thatcher... ???but it's not enough... luers goes on to win this one, 53-41... next stop takes us down to ossian... 3a's second ranked norwell hosting columbia city for an ne8 battle...and this one was all knights from the jump.... skyla tomasek gets the block on one end... and then on the other end... it results in a transition triple for maiah shelton... the future bethel pilot had 12... norwell up five...later in the first... it's a seven point game... this time it's kaylee fuelling's turn... she buries the wing three... she added 15... and the knights just kept on shooting... mackenzie tolliver... sweet lefty stroke from downtown...and then... it's lauren bales... three ball... corner pocket is pure... norwell jumped out to a 16-1 lead...and they never looked back... norwell cruises to the 52-35 win... next stop takes us out to turtle town... churubusco hosting west noble for and necc showdown...chargers all over this one early on.... nice pass inside to nichelle phares for two of her ten... busco doing their best to stay in this one... brelle shearer... just inside the long line... knocks down the deuce...a few possessions later on the break... taytlynn forrer with the deep three puts the chargers up big..

She had eight...and then later.... the out of bounds play works to perfection.... lilly mast for three of her game high 24....chargers cruise to the 74-29 win... they're now 6-2 on the season.... final stop of the night comes at armstrong arena... new haven at home hosting huntington north...first quarter... chloe kauffman gets in to the teeth of the defense... drops it off for meg camomile for the easy layup... vikings go out in front.a few possessions later...new haven finds the shooter.... little step back jack for the three.... thats no good... but avarcia nard able to find the rebound and put it back up....but the vikings able to keep the dogs on their heels all night long.... ball barely touches the ground... and it results in a bucket for addison dennis...new haven would stick around all night... right here its the drive and kick to find a wide open kayla williams wet from the long line...but the vikings hang on in a tight one... 46-36 the final... 3 3 so that
