Motorcycle riders took to the streets in oroville ... as part of a toy ride to help children in need.
Action news now reporter amy lanski shows us how bikers answered the call, to make sure the salvation army doesn't come up short: amy: "you can see the supporters here in oroville at the first butte county kids toy run.
I spoke to the organizer who says he only started putting this together six days ago."
Rick pratt - organizer "the guy from salvations army he says we needed more toys so last sunday night i came up with this idea and it really came together in a weeks time, so it's really an awesome thing to do."
Rick pratt organized the event and says to participate riders had to bring a new unwrapped toy or have a donation.
"we are giving all the toys to salvation army and it is going to keep the toys here in butte county it is not going outside butte county."
Pratt said various clubs donated as well as businesses around oroville.
"i just can't believe the turnout for the bikers who came out in such a short time.
Christmas morning man it's like when you go share it with your family remember you got a toy for a kid this year and man that's what it's all about."
Michael dominguez - corps officer oroville salvation army "it's just huge our community has been through a lot the last couple years and last couple months, so to be able to partner with different groups and organizations and bring gifts so our kids can experience a better christmas than they might have it is huge.
It is awesome."
Michael dominnguez is the corps officer for oroville salvation army and expressed how grateful they were.
Michael: "hopefully this will be something we continue on year round.
Next year it could be even bigger and go on from there and provide for our community in oroville."
Amy: "pratt says they are hoping to have this event every year from now on.
