Jack's Bottle Shop set to open in Rochester Thursday

The shop opens Thursday at noon and six people will be allowed in at a time.

Hundreds of small businesses have closed their doors since the pandemic began.

But for one in rochester... it's doing the exact opposite ?

Kimt news 3's madelyne watkins spoke with the owner of "jack's bottle shop" to see how it's been able to do it.

She joins us live.

Good morning, madelyne./// tyler.

Take a look at this ribbon on the outside of the store.

It's in honor of the owner's son, marcus.

He tells me ?

"(this is how he's been abe to make this dream a reality.

Jack lester is no stranger to craft beer.

He worked at forager brewery for five years and began working on this project about a year ago.

Inside "jack's bottle shop" you'll find craft beer from rochester breweries, "little thistle," "thesis" and "lts."

His goal is to support local businesses... but he also wants to deliver a message.

Lester and his family spent some time in houston last year while his son, marcus, was waiting for a dual lung transplant.

Unfortunately, marcus passed away in november of 2019.

Lester tells me it could have been easy to fall into darkness... but he knew he had to create "we certainly have brought him home in spirit and that is one thing that is the push behind this idea.

It's my motivation everyday, just to live life to the absolute fullest, be a good person, practice good, be good because we never know what tomorrow might bring us."

And i think that's something we can all remember during this time.

Lester says he wants this place to offer a bright light to people who could use it.
