Aired Dec. 15, 2020.

Is back!

In this week's edition, wtva's matt st.

Jean compiled his notes, prepared his statements, and was ready to put forth his most compelling arguments as he took a look at how the debate club has changed amidst the pandemic.

But first.this.

2020 game change debate open (track) ok, ok that was little ridiculous, this is what debate club looks like in 2020 at the mississippi school for math and science.

Since school resumed, club director lori pierce and her students have conducted club sessions via zoom.

Some students, like hayden anderson, are able to attend in person because they live near by or are one of the select few who live on campus, but for the most part, students are virtual.

(aaron wan) it's just really different a lot harder for sure, because i think a big part of competing in debate, what makes it really fun, is traveling around meeting different people and bonding with your teammates, things like that.

(track) but that's the norm now, all competitions, local and national, are held on a virtual platform as demonstrated by pierce.

(track) competitng virtually does have its cons.

(michael lu) they just had this one website with these rooms with a competitions, local and national, are held on a virtual (track) but that's the norm now, all competitions, local and who live on campus, but for the most part, students are virtual.

(michael lu) they just had this one website with these rooms with a whole bunch of zoom links so you'd have to go to tab room and look for your room and then you'd have to find your room among (track) but also has its pros michael) having online format allows us to debate with people all over the county, just using zoom.

(track) consensus from the club: it's been weird.

But that hasn't stopped them from competing.
