Covid-19 is now underway.

Mvhs staff began vaccinating their co-workers within four hours of receiving nearly one thousand doses of the pfizer covid-19 vaccine today.

Newschannel 2's joleen ferris reports.

Stand upat 10:30 this morning, mvhs received 970 doses of pfizer's covid-19 vaccine.

That's for them and eight other hospitals in the mv region.

Within four hours, mvhs was vaccinating their staff" an rn.....an icu charge nurse.....and an infectious disease physician....are the first to be innoculated against covid 19 in oneida county.

This is the beginning of the end, hopefully" mvhs is the hub.

They will administer the vaccine to their staff and that of eight other mv region hospitals.

About 330 of the vaccines are for their own staff 36:19 "we have priority orders and priority departments that we're starting with so we're starting with the places that have the most covid exposure.

So, icu, the er, our covid units" mvhs staff will be vaccinating healthcare workers, from their own and other mv hospitals, here, in their 'pod', seven days a week.

And in about a week, they'll have the moderna vaccine, too, enabling them to innoculate even more staff.
