A representative from the MDOT explained the function of roundabouts, which are now in Columbus.
City of columbus and mdot added two roundabout projects to parts of the city as a way to keep drivers safe.
Mdot public affairs officer jace ponder said mdot took charge of the roundabout project on military road off highway 82.
Ponder said roundabouts reduce traffic by allowing drivers to continually move through the intersection, lessening the severity of an accident.
Ponder added he received numerous questions about the new driving process and the safest thing to do is be defensive as a driver.

"for all drivers, when you're approaching a roundabout, slow down when you enter the roundabout and once you're in the roundabout don't stop.
You have the right away.
Just travel through the roundabout.
When other cars need to enter, they'll enter after you've passed."
Now, these are the first roundabouts to be added to the columbus area according to ponder.
The city of oxford has also added roundabouts.
