Firefighters say when they got there...flames were shooting out of an apartment windown.
The sprinkler system activated and helped keep the fire from spreading beyond the one apartment, according to firefighters.
The person living in the apartment was taken to the hospital with non- life threatening injuries, according to investigators.
A spokesperson for richmond place says eight people living in nearby apartments are being put up in other apartments for the time being.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
