West Lafayette Fire Department celebrating team effort after helping save a life
The west lafayette fire department is celebrating a life saved last week.
:16 on friday, west lafayette emergency teams got a call about a person not breathing.
When firefighters arrived,police administering cpr.
The fire department provided a defibrillator, which helps regulate heart beats.
During these life saving measures, deputy fire chief jeff need reports the person's heartbeat started again.
He said emergency calls don't always end positively like this.
We always hope that this is how it ends and in this case it did and each step from the police officers to the firefighters to the paramedics, each layer shows up and did everything the proper way and we had a successful outcome.
Deputy chief need credits the people who called 911 early and administered cpr.
He says that also played a big role in saving the person's life.
Shoppers are making use of the time left before christmas.
Spots like the tippecanoe mall are seeing last minute shopping traffic.
Though not at capaty, local businesses are still taking measures to keep folks safe.
Some are still offering curbside pickup and requiring masks while inside.
Doug webb says christmas shopping has been vastly different this year.
People have done a lot of their shopping early.
They don't wanna get in that last minute, last day, christmas eve shopping, like they may have in the past.
Doug says the stores had their holiday sales sooner than usual.
He encourages anyone with shopping left to do to get it done.
