A blizzard warning will go into effect starting at 3pm today through early thursday morning for the majority of the area.
Plan for very difficult travel conditions through the evening hours and into the overnight.
Accumulations of snow will be greatest to the north and west of a line from mason city to rochester.
Expecting 1?
"*4" in the rochester and mason city areas, upwards of 4 inches to the northwest of this line including owatonna and albert lea.
Lesser accumulation around an inch is expected further to the south and east of that line.
Temperatures will continue to drop rapidly through the evening hours with overnight lows falling below the zero mark.

With christmas nearly here and a winter storm bearing down on us, local retail shops are packed with people doing last minute holiday shopping.
Kimt news 3's jeremy wall is live inside "nerdin out" with more.
Jeremy, what are you looking at there?
Katie, like many customers who shop here im actually looking at some pop vinly figures, big collectors items. interestingly, people didn't come in to do last minute shopping because of the weather.
Some came to find items to fill stockings before christmas.
Others came to kill time after a dentist appointment.
There was even a last minute pick up for merhcandise that was purchased earlier were out doing some last minute holiday shopping just making sure we got those presents in the stockings and already to go they have like an auction on facebook so were coming up to pick something up that we got, just for us the store management here tells me that one of the hot sellers this holiday season are these so?

Winter storm is forcing mayo clinic health system to close multiple clinics and care sites.
