"* alternate side parking is in effect meaning on even calender days you park on the even address side of the street, and on odd calender days like today, you park on the odd address side.

Rochester public works began this plan last year, and it is in effect october 1st through may 1st.

This is to allow snow plows to navigate streets easier and get them clear of snow.

The grace period during which you are urged to move your car is from 2am to 3pm.

"* you can't lea your car on the street from midnight "this is kind of an encouragemen t to get cars off the street and if you can't at least get them moved everyday so the plows can come and get the streets cleaned up."

Due to the forecast of 1 to 4 inches of snow in to the overnight hours, the city of stewartville has issued a snow alert effective from 12 am thru 7 am tomorrow.

Parking on city streets during an alert is prohibited and vehciles will be ticketed.
