The Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle administers around 90 of its 500 vaccines to its frontline workers on Thursday.

Vaccines earlier this morning... and went straight to work administering those vaccines by the afternoon.

Wtva's rhea thornton was in lowndes county to hear from those receiving the vaccine.s around 90 frontline workers received their first round of the moderna vaccine today here at the baptist memorial hospital in columbus... and dr. jack reed was the first to receive it.

Jack reed - retired chief medical officer at baptist memorial hospital: "like any other shot i've ever had... nothing to it."

Reed is on his 45th year at baptist memorial golden triangle..

And he like many other medical professionals feels honored to have received the coronavirus vaccine.

After receiving the vaccine, reed and all other frontline workers waited 15 minutes to monitor any symptoms experienced after injection.

Director of pharmacy eli hilton knows that many worry about getting the vaccine... but he believes the shots are essential.

Eli hilton - director of pharmacy at baptist memorial hospital golden triangle: "we want everyone to develop immunity and if not, you're going to be at risk for infection not only yourself but to infect other people when you get it.

So, if enough people get this vaccine, then that'll mean we can go back to living like normal sooner."

And hilton is not the only one who believes in the importance of the vaccine... jack reed - retired chief medical officer at baptist memorial hospital: "without a vaccination, we're in big trouble to try and win this battle."
