Dr. Ryan Voskuil of Erlanger's Orthopaedic Oncology explains the importance of the cancer service.

All ... let's just ... one of the places that takes our community.

Such a great place to live and work is or what occurred.

Of course, erlanger has an incredible team of just about everybody from the ground level all the way up to the doctors, including this guy, dr ryan bosco and dr. ryan bosco i the areas only adult and pediatric fellowship trained orthopedic oncologist well pretty good god pretty big title for you dr. bosco.

First of all morning ... worship are you i'm doing very well sir, thank you for asking.

You were actually trained at erlanger went away for a while and now you're back ... what brought you back to chattanooga and to get we want unfortunate to to your presence in training years were spent five years training in the best hospitals in the country for orthopedic surgery, and as far as training you there was no orthopedic oncologist in the entire region of and so there was obviously a big need for that in vacancy, and so yeah there was that need need to be met and then chinese is so much going on at such an exciting time both in the city in the region and with what's going on erlanger with the advances that they're making healthcare and so i really want to be, or that that's even bring both orthopedic in oncology care back to back to the region.

One of the things that women check in row.

Dr. bosco, one of the things that you were peers and her contemporaries both at erlanger and other healthcare providers ... they say are such a visionary when it comes to your specialty field.

What's your vision for orthopedic and cancer care at yes that's a great question and that that is partly excellent way off of the first questions will attack obviously earlier, has a vision to extend the cancer center as well.

We have vision for for this region and it's a one on credit with we all have as a team and first from a cancer standpoint, the field is continually changing, and we have to without a or vision is that we will continue to first pouring the utmost amount of chair for patients and give them everything they need all matching that with the best technology in the precedents.

A we have in you to give our patients the best the best outcomes and from an orthopedic standpoint it's a similar thing week we carefirst about the patient being their needs and their goals and matching that that here with the with the recent advances in technology and all the fellowship trained to be certain is that we have here working together to maximize function in outcomes and to get the patient's active in doing what they want to do and so the sink want to get orthopedic and oncologist women told that you are in the proces and you may be through this process, but you are in the process creating the region, not just the cities but the regions moly dedicated sarcoma team.

What is involved in that you know that's that's that's started him a little bit before i got here there is some sort care going on.

I pediatric standpoint in india in the adul world, but i was the missing piece to it together and that w did have a sort all orthopedic to research and or ecologists who don't sir, is and so we are able to do over.

Now the last several months.

Continue workin together and releases collaborating and retained together.

Sorry to be multidisciplinary to reports to go places and talk about the sarcomas that we cannot treat from a medical standpoint with our excellent medical and radiation colleges now searching with me arriving on scene so that it's been awesome to work together this team.

In doing this.

This comprehensive sarcoma team will have about 30 seconds left, but i did want to ask you this, and tell us the importance of doing what you do.

You're not just reading the specific patient on the table.

You're also indirectly treating their entire family correct ... yeah that was a great question, sir.

True cancers you know it.

It takes a toll on on the patient, but the entire family.

Like you said.

And so it takes team because, especially during these these trying times as well.

We need to be constantly working with the patient and with the family given them ever resource cycle through that tough time in your you're so correct.

And that's our goal, and that's our our vision erlanger's that were not as treating just another patient.

Other medical needs, and everything that they need along with the needs of the family as well and so is our goal for sure.

Dr. ryan bosco, thank you so much for your time erlanger in our entire region.

Blessed to have you team on board and only a mouse click away.

We will talk to you over the coming a few si, very much like to find out more about dr. ryan bosco and what is in the process of doing the day- to-day erlanger's website.
