Newswatch 12's tyler ridgle reports on how local schools will be moving forward with this policy.

Tyler says: in september the state board of education approved a temporary rule.

Districts must enact a new policy by january first 20-21-- which central point schools have already started since a meeting last month.

Lake county school district superintendent -- michael carter says passing this policy goes beyond racial inequity.

Carter says with new policies always comes push back but says it is necessary to start the conversation.

Oregon department of education director colt gill says the noose, confederate flag and swastika are being used to bully and harm students and staff, and this is particularly true for students of color.
