Every year on january first, founder becky weatheford said talbot house has an annual fundraiser called the black-eyed pea dinner fundraiser.
Talbot house is a program to help women recovering from substance abuse.
The talbot house itself houses women in the early stages of recovery.
This will the program's sixth annual fundraiser.
Standup: "last year, talbot house moved into this bakery here in west main shopping center.
This will be where organizers will have the fundraiser again this year."
Weatherford explained talbot house is possible because of grants and private donations.
Without fundraisers and community support, she said it wouldn't exist.
"people in this area are so good to us.
Um, y'all help us keep our lights on here."
She explained the the bakery is allowing these women to get real-world experience to help them in their journey.
"and learn how to take some pride in their work.
So many of these women haven't had that opportunity in a very long time."
People can stop by and get food for twelve dollars a plate.
It's happening january first, 2021 from eleven a-m to two p-m.
Proceeds go towards benefiting the talbot house for sober women.
